\n Shift: 4x12 or 3x12 Nights (6:00 PM - 6:30 AM)
\n Unit: 18-bed Labor & Delivery unit
\n Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital, Level I Trauma Center, Magnet Hospital
\n Total Staffed Beds: 562

Job Requirements:

• Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in Labor & Delivery/OB required.
• First-Timers Accepted: Yes.
• Certifications Required: ACLS, BLS, NRP, Fetal Monitoring Certification.
• License: Active Illinois RN license or in application process with ETA.
• Floating: Will float to Pediatrics based on facility needs.
• On-Call: Not required.
• Weekends: Not required.
• Block Scheduling: Discuss with manager for accommodation.
• RTO Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days.
• Local Candidates: Accepted (no radius restriction).

Guaranteed Hours:

• Client may cancel up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without payment.
• Additional canceled hours will be billed.
• On-call in lieu of cancellation counts as a canceled shift.

Required Work Setting Experience:

• Antepartum, Labor and Delivery, High Risk Antepartum, Level I Nursery, LDRP, Mother/Baby.
• Facility births/month: <100.

Required Skills/Experience:

• Antepartum Care & Procedures:
  • Assist with sterile speculum exam (effacement, dilation, station, presentation).
  • Non-Stress Tests (NST), Oxytocin Challenge Tests (OCT).
  • Reflex checks, edema assessment, clonus, sterile vaginal exam.
  • Triage of obstetrical patients.
  • External Fetal Heart Monitoring (EFM).
• Fetal Monitoring:
  • External and Internal Fetal Monitoring.
  • Recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns.
• IV Therapy/Phlebotomy:
  • Start and maintain peripheral IV.
  • Administration of blood & blood products.
  • Use of infusion pumps, drips, IV monitoring.
• Medication Administration:
  • Antihypertensives, Magnesium Sulfate therapy, Pitocin (oxytocin), Prostaglandins.
• Labor & Delivery Management:
  • Assist with high-risk delivery, vaginal delivery, C-section circulation.
  • Hemorrhage/shock management, C-section recovery, sterile vaginal exam.
• Neonatal Care in Delivery Room:
  • APGAR scores, ID/security banding, radiant warmers/thermoregulation.
• Newborn Care:
  • Assist with circumcision and post-op assessment, cord care, discharge teaching.
  • Infant identification, metabolic screen, neonatal abstinence syndrome.
  • Newborn assessment, hypoglycemia management, thermoregulation, circumcision care teaching.
• Pain Management:
  • Epidural anesthesia, pain assessment, and management.
• Postpartum Care & Procedures:
  • Episiotomy/incisional care, Foley catheter insertion.
  • Fundus/lochia/perineum care, wound assessment, and care.
• Postpartum Patient Care:
  • Vaginal delivery, Cesarean section, couplet care, multiple births.
  • Postpartum hemorrhage, pregnancy-induced hypertension.
• Professional Skills:
  • Isolation precautions/PPE, vaccine administration.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Community hospital experience.
• Cerner charting experience.

Hospital Details:

• Scrub Color: Provided for this role.
• Charting System: Cerner.
• Parking: Free parking permit provided (form completed during orientation).
