The program includes classroom and behind-the-wheel training scheduled every 8 weeks. Participants earn $17.00/hour during training and work as a bus aide. After obtaining a CDL license, pay rates vary by vehicle size: $17.00/hour for vans and $20.00/hour for buses, with guaranteed minimum hours and opportunities for additional assignments. The role involves ensuring safe and timely transportation of children, communication with parents, school officials, and coworkers, and completing regulatory reports. Applicants must complete a job application and new hire packet including background checks, provide identification, references, and residential history, and pass physical and drug/alcohol tests. Physical ability to perform tasks such as climbing bus steps, quick evacuation, and carrying weight is required. Initial paid pre-service training and ongoing training are provided.
