Responsibilities
This position involves working in a cell biology research laboratory. The selected individual will both conduct research and help maintain laboratory organization.
- Under general supervision, perform a variety of defined research and laboratory tests and experiments according to prescribed protocols and assigned schedules.
- Set up experiments; image and analyze data
- Lead laboratory maintenance activities, such as sterilization and cleaning of equipment, inventory, media preparation, and maintenance of Drosophila stocks.
- Maintains records, files, and logs of work performed in laboratory notebooks and computer databases.
- Compiles data and records results of studies for publications, grants, and seminar presentations.
- Performs related responsibilities as required by principal investigator.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate is curious, detail-oriented, has excellent communication skills and reliability, and enjoys discovering new biology while working with others.
- This position requires a Bachelor's degree in a scientific field OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
- Prior laboratory research experience, excellent organizational and communication skills, and an ability to multitask is required.
- Experience in microscopy, image analysis, and Python is preferred, but not required.
- The preferred candidate has experience in molecular biology, especially cloning, CRISPR, and/or RNA biology.
- Prior experience with Drosophila is not necessary, although experience with cultured cell models is a plus.
