Job Title: Ranch Hand / Ranch Assistant Manager (Cattle & Hay Operations)

Location: Weatherford, Texas
Job Type: Full Time
Reports To: Ranch Owner

Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled and reliable Ranch Hand or Ranch Manager to manage daily operations on our old-fashioned working cattle and hay ranch in Weatherford, Texas. This position involves hands-on work with livestock, hay production, and ranch maintenance. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, trustworthy, and experienced in traditional ranching and equipment operation.

Key Responsibilities:

Livestock Duties:

  • Feed and care for cattle daily

  • Monitor herd health and administer treatments as needed

  • Assist with calving, branding, and weaning

  • Maintain clean and safe water sources and feeding areas

  • Record vaccinations, births, and health checks

Hay Operations:

  • Oversee seasonal hay production including cutting, raking, baling, and stacking

  • Operate and maintain hay equipment: balers, cutters, tedders, and rakes

  • Monitor field conditions and manage irrigation (if applicable)

  • Load, haul, and store hay properly for winter feeding

General Ranch Maintenance:

  • Build and repair fences, gates, and corrals

  • Maintain ranch buildings, barns, water troughs, and roads

  • Service and repair equipment and vehicles

  • Keep tools, shop, and work areas organized and clean

Other Responsibilities:

  • Operate tractors, loaders, UTVs/ATVs, and trailers

  • Maintain records and assist with ranch planning

  • Work independently or lead seasonal help

  • Ensure animal welfare, land stewardship, and safety at all times

Requirements:
  • 3+ years experience on a working ranch (cattle and/or hay)

  • Knowledge of livestock health, hay production, and machinery

  • Strong mechanical skills (routine equipment maintenance and troubleshooting)

  • Physically fit and able to work in extreme weather conditions

  • Must be able to lift 50+ lbs, climb, and perform repetitive tasks

  • Valid driver's license; CDL is a plus

  • Horseback experience is a plus but not required

  • Honest, reliable, and able to work independently
