Medical Insurance Collector
Bakersfield, CA
Pay: $21.00/hour
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Assignment Type: Full-time, temporary (multi-month contract)

We are seeking an experienced Medical Collector for a high-volume assignment. This is a straight start opportunity—ideal for candidates who are self-motivated, detail-oriented, and well-versed in healthcare collections.

Key Responsibilities:
Contact patients regarding outstanding balances, including deductibles, coinsurance, and copayments
Review and analyze patient accounts to determine appropriate collection actions
Process payments and set up payment plans as needed
Respond to billing and insurance inquiries from patients
Accurately document all collection activities in the system
Collaborate with internal departments to resolve billing or payment discrepancies
Ensure compliance with HIPAA and all applicable healthcare regulations

Qualifications:
Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in medical insurance collections (required)
Solid understanding of insurance terminology such as deductible, coinsurance, and copay
High school diploma or equivalent
Strong communication, negotiation, and customer service skills
Familiarity with medical billing systems and electronic health records preferred
