We are recruiting for a motivated Medical Assistant - STD Clinic to join our team! Under general supervision, assists provider including all back office duties. Provides nursing support with various functions such as invasive procedures, medication administration, performing appointment and registration scheduling functions. Assists the RN with clinical clerical functions. Ensures smooth work and patient flow within the clinic. The Medical Assistant will be part of the Denver Sexual Health Clinic which is one of four clinics within the Public Health Institute at Denver Health. Our Denver Sexual Health Clinic team is strongly committed and passionate about providing sexual health and family planning services to an underserved community including LGBTQIA+ persons. Essential Functions include taking vital signs, assisting provider with procedures, medication administration, preparing patients for exams, clerical coordination, patient check-in, documentation, reporting changes in patient condition, preparing exam rooms, maintaining safety and infection control, performance appraisal participation, and possibly phlebotomy and lab procedures. Education required is a Post Graduate Diploma or Certificate from a clinical Medical Assistant school or an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing program with an active LPN license. Work experience required is less than 1 year completion of a 160 hour externship or 6 months direct patient care experience in an outpatient setting. BLS certification is required. Knowledge and skills include medical office practice, diagnostic and treatment procedures, medical equipment use, safety, vital signs, record keeping, communication, and proficiency in electronic health records. Bilingual skills preferred. Salary ranges from $20.00 to $26.96 per hour.
