Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Mail Messenger (CS25-254) to support the University Mail Services team. The Mail Messenger plays a vital role in ensuring the accurate and timely preparation, sorting, metering, delivery, and tracking of university mail across all SIUE campuses-including Edwardsville, Alton, Belleville, and East St. Louis. This position ensures compliance with United States Postal Service (USPS) regulations and supports internal accounting, billing, and operational reporting systems.
What You'll Be Doing: Prepare, sort, and meter outgoing university mail in full compliance with USPS regulations and university procedures.
Ensure proper postage, markings, and classifications are applied to all outgoing mail pieces.
Deliver and pick up university mail across all campuses, including Edwardsville, Alton, Belleville, and East St. Louis, as assigned.
Scan outgoing mail using metering software (e.g., Pitney Bowes SendPro) and assist departments with mail-related inquiries.
Identify and correct mail with incomplete addresses (e.g., missing names or box numbers) and ensure proper redirection of misdelivered or misaddressed items.
Return undeliverable or misdirected external mail to the Edwardsville Post Office (Edwardsville, IL 62025).
Verify and record Business Reply Mail (BRM) received, ensuring accurate departmental chargebacks according to USPS regulations.
Input and verify mail data, reports, and billing information using Business Manager and SendPro Enterprise software.
Monitor and report daily/weekly/monthly vehicle mileage to SIUE Transportation Services for university recordkeeping.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Possession of a valid driver's license as required by the state of Illinois for the type of motor vehicle(s) to be operated by the incumbent.
