Job title: Esports Attendant, Speer YMCA

Description: The Esports Attendant supports the day-to-day operation of the esports facility or gaming lounge, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for participants. This role involves monitoring equipment, assisting players, enforcing rules, and promoting positive gameplay. The attendant acts as a resource for gamers of all skill levels and helps maintain a culture of inclusivity, respect, and sportsmanship.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and check in participants; verify registration and eligibility.
  • Monitor gameplay to ensure rules, safety, and behavioral expectations are followed.
  • Provide basic technical assistance with gaming equipment, software, and connectivity.
  • Set up and shut down gaming stations before and after open play or tournaments.
  • Assist with organizing and running esports events, leagues, and tournaments.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the gaming area.
  • Troubleshoot minor hardware or software issues; report technical problems to management.
  • Enforce code of conduct, including anti-bullying and online safety policies.
  • Promote upcoming esports events and foster a positive gaming community.
  • Track participation and gather feedback from players to support program improvement.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred); current high school students may be considered.
  • Prior experience in esports, gaming, youth programming, or customer service (preferred).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with popular competitive games (e.g., Rocket League, Fortnite, Marvel Rivals, Super Smash Bros, etc.).
  • Basic technical knowledge of PCs, gaming consoles, and networking.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain, if required).
  • Passion for gaming and youth development.
  • Team-oriented with a proactive attitude.
  • Conflict resolution and situational awareness skills.

Pay & Perks: $15.25/hour. Free individual YMCA membership for employee and discount for family.

Schedule: Part-time hours with average 8-10 Hrs Weekly.
