JOB SUMMARY:

The Caregiver is a vital member of our care team, responsible for providing compassionate, professional, and personalized assistance to residents in our Assisted Living and Memory Care communities. The primary goal is to support residents in maintaining their highest possible level of independence, dignity, and quality of life, while ensuring a safe, clean, and comfortable environment. Caregivers in Memory Care will have specialized training and understanding to support residents with cognitive impairments, including Alzheimer's disease and other dementias.

With 24-hour supervision and a dedicated 24-hour call system, Lakeview Lodge is well-equipped to handle any situation with efficiency and compassion. Residents benefit from personalized assistance with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and medication management, catering to their individual needs with respect and dignity.

RESPONSBILITIES:

  • Personal Care Assistance:
    • Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, ambulation, transfers (with proper body mechanics and assistive devices), and incontinence care.
    • Support residents with Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs) such as light housekeeping, laundry, and escorting to meals and activities, as needed.
  • Medication Reminders/Administration (if certified/licensed and within scope of practice):
  • Observation and Reporting:
    • Observe and report any changes in residents' physical, mental, or emotional condition to the Resident Care Coordinator or appropriate supervisor immediately.
  • Activity Engagement and support
    • Encourage and assist residents to participate in community activities, promoting social interaction and engagement.
  • Mealtime Assistance:
    • Assist residents to and from the dining room.
    • Provide assistance with meal setup and feeding as needed, ensuring adequate hydration and nutrition.
  • Safety and Environment:
    • Ensure a safe, clean, and organized environment for residents, adhering to infection control policies.
    • Respond to resident calls for assistance promptly and professionally.

Additional Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Memory Care Specific):

  • Specialized Memory Care:
    • Implement and/or support individualized care plans tailored to the unique needs of residents with dementia/Alzheimers.

 

HOURS/SHIFTS:

Full Time, Part Time and Per Diem positions available.

Shifts needed are Night Shifts, Evening Shifts, and Early Morning Shifts (starting at 5:00am)

 

QUALIFCATIONS AND SKILLS:

High school diploma or GED preferred

Previous experience (1+ year preferred) as a caregiver in an assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, or home care setting.

Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

Ability to perform duties independently and as part of a team.

Ability to lift, push, pull, and transfer residents safely (typically up to 50 lbs unassisted, and more with assistance).

Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods.

Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.

CPR and First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).

Genuine compassion and empathy for older adults, particularly those with cognitive impairments.

Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude.

Ability to maintain confidentiality of resident information.
