About the Role

The Company is in search of an Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Engagement and Leadership. The successful candidate will be a collaborative and relational leader with a strong supervisory background, dedicated to enhancing the student experience and fostering a welcoming, supportive, and inclusive campus community. This role involves overseeing a range of programs and services, including sorority and fraternity life, leadership development, and student organizational development and management. The AVC will be responsible for supervising a team that supports over 380 student organizations, student governance, and various student-run initiatives. A key aspect of the position is to serve as a passionate advocate for students, understanding their needs, and promoting a positive and inclusive campus climate. Applicants for the AVC position should have an advanced degree in a relevant field, with a preference for a doctoral degree, and at least 7 years' of experience in a college or university setting, including a minimum of 5 years' in a supervisory role. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in developing and leading student engagement and leadership programs, as well as experience in budgeting, strategic planning, and assessment of learning. A deep commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusiveness, as well as excellent management, team, and coalition-building skills, are essential. The AVC should be adept at working in a complex environment, managing conflict, and inspiring students, with a personal style that is positive, empowering, and solutions-oriented.
